February 2026 Newsletter
Was anyone expecting January to be so…so…brutal?
The weather, global events, the economy , even my health. I had two autoimmune flare ups, an infected tooth and a root canal. But I did get a few things accomplished somehow.
I’ve now recorded 5 episodes of my intergenerational trauma podcast series. The last episode had to be postponed because I was preoccupied with dentists.
The day after oral surgery I dragged myself downtown to present with my partner Elizabeth Moore at the University of Toronto Law School. We chatted about on Contemporary Antisemitism and Holocaust Memory. I enjoy doing these talks.
I hope to be a little more productive this month. I’ve scheduled two presentations to review my research on intergenerational trauma in descendants of Holocaust survivors. The first session is filled. The second is half full and takes place on February 11 at 1 pm ET. If you are interested in hearing what I’ve learned register below.
Today, is the start of Black History Month. I am supporting black literature by promoting my friend Misty Rae. She is an award-winning writer and best-selling author of I Ran So You Could Fly (The Paris O’Ree Story), a book that contributes to the rich tapestry of Black literature. Additionally, she has written Moments Make the Man, a collection of short stories draws inspiration from her dad's tales. Her website is rich on content including teacher resources.
Until next month…

Thanks for the shout-out! I'm just getting caught up on my Substack reading. January has been brutal, but for me, February represents hope, sort of that point in the year when spring seems possible, if not yet probable. As to world events, I can't promise anything on that front, but we can continue speaking truth in the face of evil and lies. Feel better soon and stop wearing summer clothes outside in the cold. PS: I want one of those T-shirts I saw today.
Hope you are feeling better. At least I see you still have your sense of humour!!
